Down to Earth: Down Under

One of my favourite 2000’s actors has found his life’s purpose in highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability through film, and I am here for it.

For the last week and a half, I have watched the second season of Zac Efron’s down to earth experience. This time, instead of country hopping, the executive producer explores Australia, its nature, eco-innovations and initiatives while indulging in its cuisine.

While the first season of the docuseries sheds light on the initiatives that propose potential solutions to the climate crisis we face, the new season does this in a light-hearted and adventurous way. During the eight episodes (named based on the topic the episode discusses), the viewer gains insight into some of the environmental issues faced on the continent, the initiatives of local organisations to work the problem and the connection between aboriginal customs and the environment.

Efron cleverly defines concepts like coral reef regeneration, marine preservation, carbon capture and storage, and many more as he and his co-host Darin travel across Australia. It was an amusing watch and a great way to learn more about sustainable strategies outside Europe.

So, all of this is just to say if you haven’t watched it yet, you should. It is currently on Netflix and waiting for you. In my efforts not to spoil, I haven’t shared my favourite parts of this season, but I am totally down to discuss them in the comments.
