In my third year of my bachelor, I worked on a semester project at the Avans hogeschool in the commission of the Urban living lab Breda.
The goal of the project was to give the Urban living lab an inspiration for measures that focus on improving an area integrating critical elements of liveability, sustainability, and climate resilience principles. The research is based upon the climate change predictions in the area sourcing from the IPCC climate change precipitation predictions in the Netherlands in 2100 and the Klimaatatlas.
During the project, we worked together on a Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) and Tygron model to find general answers for the area’s climate resilience, whereby mainly focused on the people, planet, and profit model.
Since we are giving an idea of different measures in an unbuilt area in Breda, we also looked into the temporary phase between now and the start of the building face. Since the use of the area could bring more of the community together and potentially help small businesses.
The project took place over the duration of 20 weeks under the supervision of the Avans Hogeschool and working with Pieter van Hulten and Marc Holvoet at Urban Living lab Breda. In this project I worked together with Nils Helderop , Anastasia Trimpou, Demi van Hooijdonk and Ava Finlay whereby everyone had an important job working in the team. In this project I was the project’s manager and developed a more profound perspective in organizing, working in a team and communicating in a team and with the client.
I really enjoyed working on this project and I am interested in doing more projects in climate resilience in the future.
